What it is
The E691 is a transformer supplied by Andrews Water Heaters for use in their water heating appliances. It steps the incoming mains supply down to the low voltage required by the appliance's control circuit. A failed transformer will leave the controls without power, so the appliance will not run.

- The appliance is completely dead with no display or indicator lights
- Controls fail to power up even though the mains supply to the appliance is present
- The appliance runs intermittently or cuts out shortly after starting
- Fuses blow repeatedly on power-up
- No low voltage output measured at the transformer secondary
