What it is
The Andrews E403 is an ignition transformer supplied with a power lead. It produces the high-voltage spark that lights the burner in Andrews water heaters. It is used across the R18, R2000 and Supaflo R18 appliance families.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Burner fails to light despite a call for heat
- No spark at the electrode during the ignition sequence
- Repeated lockouts shortly after start-up
- Audible clicking from the transformer but no ignition
- Visible scorching, cracking or burning on the transformer body or lead
