What it is

The ASCO 1/2 Pilot Valve is a solenoid pilot valve supplied under Nuway part number E01089W, marked with the valve designation EGSCE040B2D04. It controls the pilot gas supply on Nuway NGN gas burners, opening and closing the pilot line in response to the 240V coil signal. As a normally closed (NC) valve, it stays shut when de-energised and opens only when powered.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The burner fails to establish or hold a pilot flame despite an ignition spark and an energised coil.
  • No gas is delivered to the pilot line when the valve is powered.
  • Gas continues to pass through the pilot line when the valve is de-energised.
  • Intermittent pilot ignition or lockout that clears when the valve is disturbed.
  • The coil operates without the audible click of the valve opening or closing.

Before you order

  • Confirm the existing valve is a 1/2 in connection and is marked with the same EGSCE040B2D04 designation.
  • Check the coil voltage is 240V and that the circuit requires a normally closed valve.
  • Match the part number E01089W against the burner model before ordering.
  • Inspect the pilot line and ignition components so a valve fault is not masking another issue.
