What it is

The Ranco CL6P0105 is a range thermostat from the CL6 series, a control device used to regulate and hold a set temperature range within the appliance it is fitted to. Ranco thermostats of this type are used across a range of heating and cooking appliances where a stable, adjustable temperature band is required.

The thermostat works by sensing temperature at the probe or sensing point and switching the circuit to bring the appliance back into the selected range. Because it is a range type rather than a simple fixed cut-out, the set point can be adjusted to suit the appliance and the process being controlled.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The appliance no longer holds its set temperature and drifts above or below the selected range.
  • Temperature control becomes erratic, with the appliance cycling on and off at the wrong points.
  • The appliance fails to switch off at the top of the range, or fails to switch on when the temperature falls.
  • The control knob or spindle turns without any effect on the switching point.
  • Visible damage, burning or corrosion around the thermostat body or terminals.

Before you order

  • Confirm the part number on the existing thermostat matches CL6P0105, or that the fitted unit carries one of the alternative numbers listed below.
  • Check the appliance data plate and model reference against the compatibility list before ordering.
  • Inspect the mounting and any sealing or gasket arrangement on removal, and replace worn seals where the thermostat is seated against a hot surface or flue path.
