What it is
This is Andrews' temperature and pressure relief valve, sized 1 inch. It protects the water heater by venting when temperature or pressure exceed safe limits.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water dripping or discharging continuously from the relief pipe outside
- Appliance losing pressure repeatedly with no visible leak elsewhere
- Valve fails to vent when temperature or pressure is high
- Visible corrosion, scale or damage around the valve body
