What it is
The BX2000 is an electronic boost controller from Horstmann, now branded Secure, used to control one, two separate, or a dual immersion heater on an off-peak (Economy 7/Low Rate) electricity tariff. It heats water at the cheapest off-peak rate overnight and lets the user add a daytime top-up boost when needed.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Boost button no longer heats water on demand
- Indicator lights fail to show boost or off-peak status
- Controller fails to switch to off-peak heating overnight
- Unit is stuck on or stuck off regardless of switch position
