What it is

The Johnson & Starley BOS02031 is a 24-hour clock mechanism of the DHIEL/Grasslin type, used to control timed on and off operation of the appliance. It is fitted to Johnson & Starley Hispec warm air units and a number of Myson/Thorn warm air appliances. The mechanism provides a single 24-hour switching cycle for the heating and ventilation periods set by the user.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The clock loses time, running fast or slow against a known reference.
  • The appliance fails to switch on or off at the times set on the dial.
  • The dial or hands are stiff, jammed or will not rotate through a full 24-hour cycle.
  • The mechanism operates intermittently or not at all when the appliance is powered.
  • There is a burnt smell or visible heat damage around the clock housing.
