What it is
This is an Altecnic 15mm Type A drain off valve with a short tail. It is fitted to 15mm pipework so that a heating or plumbing system can be drained down at a chosen low point. The valve allows water to be released in a controlled way rather than emptied from an open pipe end.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The valve drips or weeps from the outlet when it should be closed
- The spindle is seized, stiff or will not turn
- Water leaks from the spindle gland when the valve is operated
- The valve will not reseat or seal after a drain down
- Scale, corrosion or staining is visible around the valve body
