What it is

The Baxi 229421 is a fan assembly kit manufactured by Baxi for its 30, 60 and Solo 2 PF boiler range. The fan sits in the combustion circuit: it draws air and flue products through the heat exchanger and pushes the exhaust gases out through the flue terminal. Because it runs whenever the boiler fires, the fan is one of the most heavily worked components on the appliance, and a worn bearing or damaged impeller will affect combustion performance rather than just noise levels.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Boiler locks out or fails to ignite, with a fan or air pressure fault code shown
  • Grinding, rumbling or squealing noise from the fan area on start-up
  • Fan runs intermittently, or does not spin up when the boiler receives a demand
  • Repeated lockouts that clear after a reset and return shortly afterwards
  • Visible damage, play or contamination on the impeller or fan housing

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and GC number from the data badge before ordering, as fan assemblies vary between boiler variants
  • Match the part number 229421 against the number on the existing fan or the appliance's parts list
  • If the fan mounting gasket or seal is disturbed during removal, check whether a replacement is required for the appliance
