What it is
The Smoke Baffle is a steel baffle plate used in Firebird oil-fired boilers. It is listed by the manufacturer as an EA35 baffle in steel and carries the part number BA212122. The baffle sits in the flue path to slow the passage of combustion gases and improve heat transfer to the boiler water.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Soot or heavy carbon deposits built up on the baffle faces and edges
- The baffle is warped, distorted or cracked from prolonged heat exposure
- Corrosion, scaling or thinning of the steel plate
- Pieces of baffle breaking away and dropping into the flue path or combustion chamber
- Combustion readings drifting outside normal limits with the baffle fitted
Before you order
- Confirm the boiler model and kW output band against the fit list above
- Check how many baffles the appliance uses and in which position, as more than one may be required
- Inspect the existing baffle for damage before ordering so the correct part is selected
- Check the flue and combustion chamber for debris left by a failed baffle before fitting a new one
