What it is
The B40 sight glass gasket is a sealing component manufactured by EOGB for use on Bentone boilers. It seals the sight glass at the viewing port, closing the joint between the glass and its housing. The gasket is a service item that is renewed whenever the sight glass is removed or the joint begins to weep.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Fuel or oil weeping or staining around the sight glass
- The gasket appears hardened, flattened or cracked when the sight glass is removed
- Soot or combustion deposits tracking past the sight glass joint
- A fuel smell around the burner sight glass area during operation
Before you order
- Confirm the appliance is an EOGB Bentone unit before ordering
- Check the part number B03-00-117-78401 against the existing gasket or the appliance documentation
- Inspect the sight glass and its housing for cracks, distortion or damage that may need attention at the same time
