What it is
The Ariston 998980 is a set of aluminium diaphragms for gas boiler diverter valve assemblies, designated by the size references 41, 42, 47 and 60. The diaphragm is the flexible element inside the diverter valve that responds to pressure differential, allowing the valve to move between the heating circuit and the domestic hot water circuit. It is supplied as a service consumable rather than as a complete valve assembly.
Before you order
- Check the size marking on the existing diaphragm and confirm it matches one of the references listed: 41, 42, 47 or 60.
- Confirm the part number on the appliance or in the manufacturer's literature before ordering, as diverter valve internals vary between models.
- The same part number is also listed under the Chaffoteaux brand, so confirm your appliance brand alongside the number.
- Inspect the valve body, seating faces and spring while the diaphragm is removed, as wear in these areas is not corrected by a diaphragm change alone.
