What it is

The Ariston 996614 is a circulation pump used in Ariston gas combination boilers. It moves primary water around the heating circuit and through the domestic hot water plate heat exchanger, so it is central to both heating and hot water operation. This pump is the current replacement for the earlier 999091 and 998836 numbers and is listed against the Microcombi 23 and 27 families.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The pump runs hot, is noisy, or emits a grinding or humming sound that does not clear after bleeding.
  • Heating and hot water both stop, or the boiler fires briefly and then locks out.
  • The pump head is stiff or will not turn when checked by hand with the boiler isolated.
  • Water weeps from the pump body, the gland or the pump-to-manifold joint.
  • The boiler reaches temperature quickly and then cycles on the overheat thermostat.

Before you order

  • Check the GC number and serial number on the appliance data badge against the compatibility list, as several Microcombi and Ecosystem editions use different pump variants.
  • Confirm the pump currently fitted carries 999091 or 998836, or that the appliance is listed against 996614.
  • Check whether the pump gasket or O-ring seal needs replacing at the same time, as the old seal is normally disturbed during removal.
  • This part is fitted to a gas appliance; installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
