Ariston Magnesium Anode 993014-01

The Ariston 993014-01 is a magnesium anode for Ariston Superbravo hot water cylinders. It is a sacrificial anode that corrodes preferentially in place of the cylinder's inner shell, protecting the steel from electrolytic attack in stored domestic hot water. The anode carries an M5-M8 connection thread and measures 25.5 mm in diameter by 230 mm in length.

• The anode has corroded down to the central steel core or is close to it
• The anode appears heavily pitted, flaking or reduced in section
• The cylinder's stored water takes on a metallic or sulphurous smell
• Scale and corrosion debris are found at the anode boss on inspection

• Confirm the cylinder model and, where applicable, the serial number against the fit list above
• Check the existing anode's thread size and overall length match 25.5 mm diameter and 230 mm length
• Inspect the anode boss and surrounding cylinder head for corrosion before fitting a replacement
• Verify the cylinder is isolated, drained and depressurised before removing the old anode
