What it is
The Ariston 992085 is a Cotherm 30A thermostat supplied for Ariston storage electric water heaters. It sits against the cylinder body and switches the immersion heating element on and off to hold the stored water at the set temperature. This thermostat is used across the Classico and Protech 500 litre ranges.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The cylinder produces no hot water even though the element and supply are sound.
- Water stays lukewarm or never reaches the temperature set on the control.
- Stored water temperature swings noticeably between draws.
- The element keeps heating past the set point and the safety cut-out trips.
- Scorched, pitted or burnt contacts are visible on the thermostat terminals.
Before you order
- Confirm your appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list before ordering.
- Check the marking on the existing thermostat reads Cotherm 30A so the replacement matches the original fitment.
- Inspect the thermostat pocket and any seal or gasket at the same time, as these are disturbed when the thermostat is removed.
- This is a component for electric storage water heaters rather than a gas appliance part.
