What it is
The Vaillant 981306 is a packing ring — a sealing gasket used on Vaillant gas boiler assemblies. It forms a compression seal between mating faces to prevent water or gas escaping at the joint. It is listed by Vaillant under O-rings, washers and gaskets for the Ecotec and Ecomax appliance families.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Visible water weeping or damp staining around the joint the gasket seals
- A gas smell at the joint, indicating the seal is no longer gas-tight
- The gasket is hardened, flattened or brittle and no longer compresses
- Cracking, splitting or perishing of the gasket material
- The joint has been disturbed during servicing and the old gasket will not reseal
Before you order
- Confirm your appliance model against the fitment list above, as the same part number covers several VU and VUW variants
- Check the part number on the existing gasket or in the manufacturer's parts list for your model
- Identify which joint the gasket serves before ordering, as more than one gasket type may be used on the appliance
- Confirm the quantity required if the joint uses more than one gasket
