What it is
The Vaillant 981048 gasket kit is a sealing set listed by the manufacturer as a seal, complete, for joints on Vaillant Thermocompact and Turbomax family gas boilers. It sits within the O-rings, washers and gaskets group of gas boiler spares. The kit is used to restore a sound seal where the existing gasket has hardened, flattened or perished.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping, staining or crusting around the joint the seal serves
- A gasket that is visibly hardened, cracked or flattened when the joint is opened
- Scale, corrosion or debris embedded in the sealing face
- A joint that has been disturbed during servicing and will not reseal
- Traces of condensate or combustion residue at the sealing point
Before you order
- Confirm your boiler model and GC number against the manufacturer's parts list before ordering.
- Check that part number 981048 is the seal specified for the joint you are working on.
- If the joint has already been opened, fit a new seal rather than refitting the old one.
- Verify the appliance variant and revision code, as several revisions share the same model name.

Fitment listings are a guide, not a guarantee. Plant-room assemblies get modified on site more often than not. Send us the GC number off the data badge and a photo of the existing valve and we will confirm before anything is dispatched.
