What it is

The Vaillant 980270 is a washer supplied for use in Vaillant gas boilers. It sits at the joint where it is fitted, sealing and spreading load across the mating faces. It is listed by Vaillant under gas boiler spares for the VU 466 and VU 656 appliance families.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Weeping or water staining around the joint where the washer is fitted
  • Visible flattening, splitting or cracking of the washer
  • Hardened or brittle material that no longer seals under compression
  • Corrosion or pitting on the washer face
  • Traces of scale or debris trapped under the washer

Before you order

  • Confirm your boiler model against the fitment list above
  • Check the part number on the existing component or in the manufacturer's parts list
  • Check how many washers the joint requires before ordering
  • Inspect the mating faces for damage, as a scored face will not seal with a new washer alone
