What it is
The Ariston 969048 is a combined temperature and pressure relief valve rated at 7 bar with a 3/4 inch connection. It is fitted to Ariston hot water cylinders in the ST 50, ST 80 and ST 100 Protech range, together with Comfort Indirect and Contract Direct models. The valve opens when cylinder pressure or temperature rises beyond its set limits, discharging water through the tundish and discharge pipe to keep the cylinder within safe operating conditions.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water discharging continuously from the tundish or discharge pipe with no heat or pressure demand on the cylinder
- Dripping from the valve outlet after the cylinder has cooled and system pressure has dropped back
- The valve failing to reseat after it has operated, leaving a steady weep
- Scale or corrosion around the valve body, spindle or seating face
- Cylinder pressure or temperature climbing beyond its normal operating range
