What it is
The Andrews Expansion Relief Valve 1 inch x 1 1/4 inch with a 13 bar set pressure is a safety valve fitted to Andrews Water Heaters hot water cylinders. It opens at its set pressure to relieve excess pressure from the cylinder, protecting the vessel and associated pipework. It is a serviceable component intended for installation by a competent heating engineer.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water discharging continuously from the relief valve outlet when the cylinder is not under abnormal pressure
- The valve weeping or dripping at the outlet after it has operated
- The valve failing to reseat and hold pressure once the cylinder has cooled
- Scale, corrosion or debris visible around the valve seat or outlet
- The valve not opening at its marked set pressure during a test
