What it is
The Ariston 919054-01 is a magnesium anode rod with a PTFE coating, measuring Ø26 mm and 320 mm in length. It is fitted inside the domestic hot water cylinder of Ariston Classico STD and STI models, where it protects the steel vessel lining from galvanic corrosion. The magnesium core is designed to be consumed in preference to the cylinder wall, so it extends the service life of the tank.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Rumbling, popping or knocking noises from the cylinder while it is heating
- Hot water with a metallic taste or a rusty brown discolouration
- A rotten-egg or sulphur smell coming from the hot tap
- Heavy pitting, thinning or a fully consumed anode rod found at inspection
- Water weeping from around the anode boss on the cylinder head
