What it is
The Worcester Bosch 8737709167 is a plate heat exchanger rated at 50 kW, used in Greenstar 8000 LIFE and 8000+ Style combi boilers. It transfers heat between the primary circuit and the domestic hot water circuit, so it is central to hot water production on these appliances. It is supplied as a single plate pack assembly for the listed models.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Domestic hot water running hot and cold, or fluctuating at the tap
- Reduced hot water flow rate compared with the cold supply
- Scale or debris blocking the plate passages, causing poor heat transfer
- Water weeping from the plate pack or its seals
- DHW temperature failing to reach setpoint while the heating circuit works normally
Before you order
- Confirm the model and GC number on the boiler data badge against the fit list above
- Check whether the appliance is natural gas or LPG, as both variants use this part
- Inspect the primary and DHW connections and seals for damage before refitting
- Verify the fault is with the plate heat exchanger and not the diverter valve or sensor circuit
