What it is
This is a 15 bar pressure relief valve manufactured by Worcester Bosch, supplied under part number 87186450520. It is a safety component that opens to discharge water when system pressure exceeds its rated setting, protecting the boiler and heating circuit from over-pressurisation.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water discharging continuously from the pressure relief discharge pipe
- System pressure dropping repeatedly, requiring frequent topping up
- The boiler pressure gauge rising above the normal operating range during heating
- Visible weeping or scale staining around the valve body or its outlet
- The valve failing to reseat and hold pressure after it has lifted
Before you order
- Confirm the boiler model and GC number against the Fits list above
- Check the rating marked on the existing valve matches 15 bar
- Verify the fault lies with the valve itself rather than the expansion vessel or filling loop
- Have the system depressurised and isolated before removal of the old valve
