What it is

The Worcester Bosch micro switch 87172000380 is a small electrical switching component used inside Worcester Bosch gas boilers and water heaters. It actuates on mechanical movement within the appliance and completes or breaks a circuit to signal the control board that a given position or demand has been reached. It is a serviceable spare, intended for replacement when the original switch becomes unreliable.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler fails to respond to a call for heat or hot water, with no ignition sequence starting.
  • Intermittent operation, where the appliance runs correctly on some cycles and not others.
  • The appliance locks out shortly after a demand is made, with the fault recurring after reset.
  • Fan, pump or diverter movement occurs but the control board receives no confirming signal.
  • The switch lever or plunger shows physical wear, sticking or a weak return.

Before you order

  • Check the appliance GC number and serial plate against the compatibility list to confirm the correct switch for your model.
  • Confirm the number on the existing component matches 87172000380 or the previous number DD97904750 before ordering.
  • This part is fitted to a gas appliance; installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
