What it is
The Worcester Bosch pressure relief valve is a service spare for Si/C1 Series and RD Series appliances. It sits in the closed heating circuit and opens proportionally as system pressure rises, discharging water until the pressure returns to a safe level. That controlled release protects the appliance and the surrounding pipework from the effects of over-pressurisation.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The system pressure gauge reads high and will not settle back to its normal cold reading.
- Water is discharging from the pressure relief discharge pipe when the appliance is running or heating up.
- The valve body or its outlet weeps or drips continuously, even with the system cold.
- The appliance locks out or cuts out on an overheat or pressure-related fault.
- The valve fails to reseat after operating, leaving the system unable to hold pressure.
