What it is
A 1.25 amp anti-surge (time-lag) fuse measuring 20mm x 5mm, supplied by Worcester Bosch as a service spare for its domestic boiler range. It sits in the appliance's electrical circuit and protects the control electronics from current spikes, so a failed fuse will usually stop the boiler from running or responding at all. Anti-surge construction allows brief inrush currents at switch-on without rupturing the element.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Boiler is completely dead with no display, no fan and no ignition sequence
- Fuse shows a broken element, blackening or a scorched glass body on inspection
- Boiler trips out repeatedly and the fuse fails again shortly after replacement
- Intermittent shutdowns or loss of power to the control board during operation
- No response from the boiler after a power interruption or electrical fault elsewhere in the property
