What it is

The Worcester Bosch 87161424230 is a 1/4 BSP isolation valve used inside Worcester Bosch oil-fired appliances. It sits on the water or gas circuit and lets the supply be shut off at the appliance so that servicing, component replacement or leak investigation can be carried out without draining or breaking into the wider system. It is listed by Worcester Bosch under the general valves and assembly spare part group and is fitted across the Danesmoor range and a number of other Worcester models.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The valve will not shut off fully, so water or gas continues to pass when the appliance is isolated.
  • Weeping or dripping from the spindle, gland or body of the valve.
  • The handle is stiff, seized or turns without operating the internal mechanism.
  • Corrosion, scale or staining around the valve body or its connections.
  • The valve cannot be relied on to hold during a service or repair, making safe isolation impossible.

Before you order

  • Check the appliance model and, where shown, the GC number against the compatibility list to confirm the valve is correct for your boiler.
  • Note the alternative number 1018197 and the previous number ZCVLV040, which may appear on older documentation or on the part being removed.
  • Inspect the mating faces and sealing washers on removal, as a replacement seal may be needed to achieve a sound joint on refitting.
