What it is
The Worcester Bosch 87161424160 is a pressure relief valve with 1/2 inch, 15mm and 1/8 inch connections. It is fitted to Worcester Bosch gas and oil appliances, including the 200 series, Greenstar Highflow CDi, Heatslave, Camray and Classic System ranges. Its job is to open and discharge water when system pressure climbs above the set limit, protecting the boiler, cylinder and pipework from over-pressurisation.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water discharging from the relief pipework while the system is cold and at normal pressure
- System pressure dropping repeatedly, with frequent topping up needed
- Visible weeping or dripping from the valve body or its outlet
- Scale, sludge or debris sitting on the valve seat and stopping it from sealing
- Pressure gauge reading climbing above the normal operating range during heating
