This is a Worcester Bosch rope seal, supplied as a Type 6 thermoseal rope with a 19mm diameter. It seats around the heat exchanger front door, where it forms a tight, airtight joint that keeps combustion products and flue gases inside the appliance and stops water and condensate weeping past the door face. It is a service item on the Boilerhouse and Boulter Camray 5 ranges, and is replaced whenever the front door is opened for cleaning or inspection.

• A flattened, hardened or frayed rope seal that no longer springs back when the door is removed
