What it is
The Worcester Bosch 87161206440 is a top baffle assembly for the manufacturer's oil-fired boiler range. It sits in the upper section of the heat exchanger, where it slows and redirects flue gases so more heat passes into the water circuit instead of escaping up the flue. The part is listed under part type BAFFLES and is used across Worcester Bosch Boilerhouse and Danesmoor appliances.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler runs hotter than normal or trips repeatedly on the high limit thermostat
- Flue gas temperature reads higher than expected for the appliance
- Soot or carbon build-up around the baffle and heat exchanger surfaces
- The baffle plates are distorted, cracked or corroded
- Rattling or vibration from the flueways as gases bypass a damaged baffle
Before you order
- Confirm the boiler model and serial number against the compatibility list before ordering
- Check the old baffle for the previous number SSA5186/2 or the alternative number 1016247 to confirm a like-for-like replacement
- Access to the heat exchanger and flueways should be carried out by a competent engineer
