What it is

The Worcester Bosch 8716118461 is a brass blanking plug used to close off an unused threaded port on the hydraulic assembly of Greenstar Highflow boilers. It seals the tapping so that water cannot escape where no pipe or fitting is connected. Brass is used because it holds a thread well and resists corrosion in the damp environment inside a boiler casing.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • A drip or weep from the plugged port, often visible as a bead of water on the brass
  • Damp staining, limescale trails or crusting around the plug and the surrounding casing
  • Green or white corrosion deposits on the brass body or the thread
  • System pressure falling with no other obvious source of loss
  • A seized or rounded hex head that will not tighten down cleanly

Before you order

  • Check the GC number and serial plate on the appliance against the compatibility list before ordering.
  • The earlier numbers 8-710-506-247-0 and 87105062470 identify the same plug, so either may appear on older paperwork.
  • Confirm the condition of the sealing washer at the port before refitting the plug.
  • This part is fitted to a gas appliance; installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
