What it is

The code plug is a Worcester Bosch component supplied under part number 8716117714 (CODE PLUG NG 1590). It is fitted to Greenstar 535 ErP Compact and Greenstar 538 ErP Compact gas boilers, where it configures the appliance's control electronics for the correct boiler model and gas type. The plug carries the model-specific coding the control board reads on start-up.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler fails to complete its start-up sequence or the control board does not recognise the appliance model
  • Persistent lockout or fault codes relating to boiler identification or configuration
  • The plug is missing, damaged, or has corroded or loose pins in its connector
  • A replacement control board has been fitted and the existing code plug does not match the boiler model

Before you order

  • Confirm the boiler model matches one of the fitment entries listed above
  • Check the existing code plug's part number and coding against 8716117714
  • Verify the appliance is set up for natural gas, as indicated by the NG designation
  • Inspect the control board connector for damage before fitting the new plug
