What it is

This is a Worcester Bosch isolation valve supplied as a spare for the Boulter Camray 5 range of oil-fired boilers. It sits in the appliance's water circuit and allows the flow through a section of pipework to be shut off by hand, so that components downstream can be worked on without draining the whole system. The valve is operated manually and is a serviceable item that can be renewed when it stops sealing properly.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Water weeping from the valve body or around the spindle when the appliance is running
  • The valve will not turn by hand, or turns without any change in flow
  • The screwdriver slot or handle has rounded off, so the valve cannot be operated
  • A drip that continues after the valve has been closed, meaning the downstream section cannot be isolated
  • Corrosion or scale build-up around the valve body on an older appliance

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list, as the Boulter Camray 5 range covers several output and system variants
  • Check the old valve for the previous number EL49022 or the alternative number 1021164 before ordering
  • Inspect the sealing faces and any washers on the existing connection, as these are often disturbed when the valve is removed
  • Allow the appliance and system to cool and isolate the electrical supply before starting work
