What it is

The frost limit thermostat is a Worcester Bosch control component used on CAM series external boilers. It monitors the temperature around the appliance and brings the boiler into operation when conditions drop towards freezing, protecting the heat exchanger and pipework from frost damage. It is a direct replacement for the original factory-fitted thermostat on the external CAM variants listed below.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler fails to fire during cold spells, leaving the appliance and pipework exposed to freezing.
  • Repeated lockouts or no-start conditions that only appear in low ambient temperatures.
  • The boiler runs normally in mild weather but will not respond once the outside temperature drops.
  • Frost protection does not activate when the appliance is left unused over winter.
  • Intermittent or erratic starting behaviour on external CAM units during the heating season.

Before you order

  • Confirm your appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list, as the thermostat is specific to the external CAM variants.
  • Cross-reference the alternative number 1021116 and the previous number EL00204 against the part currently fitted.
  • Inspect the surrounding seals and fixings while the thermostat is removed and replace any that are perished.
