What it is
The Worcester Bosch air pressure switch is a Huba-type pressure sensing device used on the manufacturer's gas boiler range. It reads the pressure signal produced by the fan and flue system and confirms to the control board that air is moving correctly before and during a firing sequence. When the sensed pressure falls outside the expected range, the switch interrupts the sequence and the appliance locks out rather than allowing combustion to continue.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler runs through its pre-purge but fails to fire, then goes to lockout.
- Repeated lockouts that clear on reset and return shortly afterwards.
- The fan runs but the appliance does not prove air flow, so ignition is never attempted.
- Intermittent operation, with the boiler cutting out mid-cycle without a clear pattern.
- Fault codes or diagnostic indications relating to fan or air pressure on the appliance display.
