What it is

The Worcester Bosch 87160108090 is a temperature sensor used across the Greenstar family of combi and system boilers. It measures water temperature and feeds that reading back to the appliance control board, which uses it to modulate burner output and hold the required setpoint. The sensor is a small, serviceable component and is reached once the boiler is isolated and the relevant pocket or retaining clip is exposed.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler locks out or fails to fire even though there is a call for heat.
  • Hot water temperature at the tap drifts, surges or runs noticeably cooler than the setting.
  • A sensor or thermistor related fault code is stored on the control board.
  • Radiators run hotter or cooler than the setpoint demands, with the boiler cycling around the fault.
  • Operation becomes intermittent as the sensor reading breaks down under heat.
