What it is
This is a 1200W, 230V heating element manufactured by Ariston for use in its unvented hot water cylinders. It is the electrical heating component that warms the stored water inside the cylinder. The part is specified for units built from October 1998 onwards.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No hot water despite the cylinder and controls being powered
- The element fails a continuity or resistance test across its terminals
- Repeated tripping of the RCD or circuit breaker when the immersion circuit is energised
- Water heating slowly or only reaching lukewarm temperature
- Visible corrosion, pitting or scorching around the element terminals or head
