What it is
The Viessmann Ignition/Ionisation Electrode is a combined spark and flame-sensing electrode for Vitodens 050-W combi boilers. It provides the ignition spark at the burner and, once combustion is established, returns an ionisation signal to the control board to confirm a flame is present. It is supplied under Viessmann part number 7841762.

- Boiler attempts to fire but fails to ignite, or ignition is intermittent
- Repeated lockouts with a flame failure fault after the burner lights
- Sparking visible at the electrode but no sustained flame detection
- Electrode tip shows cracking, heavy sooting, corrosion or a widened spark gap
