What it is
The Viessmann ZIG 2/12 ignition transformer module, part number 7828522, is an ignition unit used on Vitodens WB1A gas boilers. It produces the high-voltage spark that lights the burner when there is a demand for heat. It is listed for the Vitodens 100 and 100-W appliance families.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler goes to lockout without a spark at the burner
- Repeated failed ignition attempts on a call for heat
- Ignition is intermittent, with the boiler lighting on some attempts and not others
- Clicking from the ignition unit is audible but the burner does not light
- Cracking, tracking or other visible damage on the module body or its leads
