What it is
The Viessmann PLATE HEAT EXCHANGER B10-20 B2TX is a brazed plate heat exchanger used to transfer heat from the boiler circuit to the domestic hot water supply. It is fitted to Vitodens 111-W storage combi and Vitodens 222-F storage boiler models. The plate pack provides a compact, high-efficiency surface for heating mains water on demand.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Domestic hot water running hot then cold, or temperature fluctuating at the tap
- Reduced hot water flow rate compared with normal operation
- Limescale or debris restricting the plate channels, often on hard water areas
- Water weeping from the plate stack or brazed joints
- Cold inlet pipework warming when the boiler is not drawing hot water, indicating internal transfer
