What it is

The ignition electrode assembly is a Baxi component used on Combi 2 series gas boilers. It provides the spark that lights the gas/air mixture at the burner during a demand for heat or hot water. The assembly is mounted at the burner and connects to the ignition lead and boiler control.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Boiler attempts to fire but does not ignite, then locks out
  • No visible spark at the electrode when the boiler calls for heat
  • Repeated ignition lockouts that clear only after a reset
  • Cracked ceramic insulator or distorted electrode tip
  • Heavy carbon build-up or corrosion on the electrode that cleaning does not resolve
