What it is

The glow ignitor is an ignition component used in Buderus gas boilers. It heats up to ignite the gas at the burner on demand, and is supplied under Buderus part number 78105. It is used across the Buderus 500, 600 and 800 appliance families.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler fails to ignite, with the burner not lighting on a call for heat
  • Repeated lockout on ignition, cleared only by resetting the appliance
  • The ignitor element shows visible damage, cracking or a broken connection
  • Ignition is intermittent, with the boiler lighting only after several attempts

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model against the fit list above before ordering
  • Check the existing ignitor for physical damage and secure electrical connections
  • Verify the fault lies with the ignitor rather than the ignition lead, electrodes or gas supply
  • Note the manufacturer part number 78105 when comparing against the part fitted
