What it is

The Baxi discharge temperature sensor TP (part number 7754224) is a temperature sensing component used on Baxi air source heat pump appliances. It monitors discharge temperature within the refrigerant circuit and reports that reading to the appliance control board, allowing the system to regulate operation and protect the compressor. It is supplied as a service part for the Baxi HP40 and Assure HP50 heat pump ranges.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Discharge temperature readings that are erratic, implausible or clearly out of range on the appliance display or diagnostic menu
  • Repeated high discharge temperature faults or over-temperature trips during heating or hot water operation
  • The appliance locking out or shutting down the compressor shortly after start-up
  • Fault codes relating to discharge or compressor temperature appearing intermittently
  • Heating or hot water output that becomes unstable as the control board reacts to incorrect temperature data

Before you order

  • Confirm your appliance model against the fitment list above, as the sensor is listed for specific HP40 and Assure HP50 variants
  • Check the fault history and live sensor readings first, so the sensor is confirmed as the cause rather than the compressor or refrigerant charge
  • Inspect the existing sensor lead and connector for damage, corrosion or poor contact before replacing
  • Isolate the appliance from the electrical supply and follow the manufacturer's service instructions before fitting
