What it is

The Baxi 7662138 is a U-shaped retaining clip, listed by the manufacturer as CLIP U DIA 3. It is used on selected Baxi 224, 228, 424 and 428 combi boilers to hold components securely in position within the appliance. It is a small consumable item, commonly renewed during servicing or repair when the existing clip is lost, deformed or corroded.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The clip is missing following a previous service or repair
  • Visible corrosion, cracking or deformation of the clip
  • The component it retains is loose, rattling or has shifted out of position
  • The clip no longer grips and will not seat correctly
  • Distortion from repeated heat cycling over the appliance's service life

Before you order

  • Confirm your appliance model against the fit list above
  • Check that part number 7662138 matches the number shown in your appliance's parts list
  • Inspect the retaining point to confirm the clip is the only component required
  • Note that small clips are easily lost during strip-down, so check whether more than one is needed
