What it is

The Baxi 3 way valve cartridge is the internal moving component of the diverter valve assembly on Baxi ErP appliances built without a bypass. It sits inside the valve body and directs water between the heating circuit and the domestic hot water circuit as the appliance switches between modes.

Because the cartridge is the part that actually moves, it is the usual wear item when a diverter valve stops sealing or stops changing position cleanly. This cartridge is supplied by Baxi under part number 7656807 and is listed for ErP models without bypass only.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Domestic hot water runs cold or only lukewarm while the heating circuit is calling
  • Radiators heat up when only hot water is demanded, or hot water runs when only heating is demanded
  • The appliance fails to switch between heating and hot water modes, or cycles repeatedly
  • Diverter valve body is hot on both ports at once, indicating the cartridge is not sealing
  • Water passing through the valve with the actuator in the closed position

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and serial number, and check that the boiler is an ErP model without bypass, as this cartridge is listed for that variant only
  • Check the existing cartridge against the part number 7656807 before removal to avoid ordering the wrong variant
  • Inspect the valve body and seals while the cartridge is out, and replace any worn O-rings or gaskets at the same time
  • Isolate the appliance and drain down as required before dismantling the diverter valve
