What it is

The AIRBOX is a stainless steel silencer supplied by Baxi as part number 7211866. It sits in the combustion air path of the appliance and damps the noise generated as air is drawn into the boiler. The unit is supplied without holes, so it is fitted as a sealed silencing component rather than a drilled air intake plate.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Noticeable increase in air intake or combustion noise from the boiler
  • Whistling or droning at the airbox that was not present previously
  • Visible corrosion, cracking or deformation of the silencer body
  • Silencer loose, misaligned or no longer sealing correctly in its housing

Before you order

  • Confirm the boiler model against the fit list above
  • Check the GC number on the appliance data badge to confirm the exact variant
  • Compare the existing silencer against part number 7211866 before fitting
  • Inspect the airbox housing and seals for damage while access is available
