What it is
The Baxi 720870101 is a blanking grommet with a 38mm diameter, supplied as a spare part for Baxi and Potterton heating appliances. It sits in an unused aperture in the casing or hydraulic assembly and closes that opening, keeping water contained and preventing air from being drawn into the appliance. Rubber grommets harden, shrink and split with heat cycling, so this is a service item that is replaced when the original no longer seals or grips.

- Visible splits, cracks or hardening in the rubber body
- Water weeping or staining around the blanking point
- Air being drawn in through a perished grommet, giving poor combustion readings or repeated lockouts
