What it is
The Baxi Plate Heat Exchanger (part number 720776401) is a 14-plate plate-to-plate heat exchanger used in Baxi and Potterton combi boilers. It transfers heat from the primary circuit to the domestic hot water supply. The 14-plate stack sits within the boiler's DHW circuit and is matched to the appliance models listed below.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Domestic hot water flow rate at the tap has dropped noticeably
- Hot water runs lukewarm or fails to reach the set temperature
- Water temperature at the outlet fluctuates during draw-off
- Scale or system debris has blocked the plate passages
- Water weeps from the plate stack or between the plates
Before you order
- Confirm the boiler model matches one of the appliances listed in the Fits section
- On the 124 and 128 ErP Combi, check the serial number suffix (AC or BC)
- Verify the existing heat exchanger is a 14-plate unit
- Check the part number 720776401 against the boiler's documentation
