What it is

The Potterton 720063201 is a microswitch assembly used in Potterton domestic gas boilers. It forms part of the boiler's switching circuit, where the microswitch contacts open and close in response to movement from a mechanical actuator such as a diverter valve spindle, pressure assembly or fan sensing device. The assembly is supplied as a complete switched unit rather than as a loose contact block.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler fails to respond to a call for heat or hot water even though the demand signal is present.
  • The appliance fires intermittently, cutting out shortly after ignition.
  • The fan, pump or diverter sequence does not progress because the expected switched signal is not received by the control board.
  • A fault code relating to a switch, sensor or sequence fault appears on the boiler display.
  • The switch lever or plunger feels loose, sticks, or the contacts show burning or pitting.

Before you order

  • Check the appliance GC number against the compatibility list to confirm the correct variant for your boiler.
  • Confirm the model and serial details on the boiler data badge before ordering, as Apollo and Performa variants use different assemblies.
  • Isolate the electrical supply and the gas supply before removing the existing switch assembly, and follow the manufacturer's service instructions for refitting and testing.
