What it is
The QAC 34 is an outdoor sensor supplied by Potterton for use with Potterton Commercial Paramount boilers. It is the external temperature sensing component used by the boiler's weather compensation control, feeding outdoor temperature data back to the appliance so flow temperature can be adjusted to match demand.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler runs at a fixed flow temperature with no response to changes in outdoor conditions
- Weather compensation readings from the sensor appear implausible or frozen at a fixed value
- The control displays an outdoor sensor fault or the heating curve no longer modulates
- Heating output stays high in mild weather, indicating the control is not receiving accurate outdoor temperature data
